Description
Cattleman’s Grill Original Cowboy is their signature blend of chuck wagon cook staples, featuring a blend of raw cane sugar, kosher salt, coffee and paprika. The rub that started it all! Cattleman’s Grill Original Cowboy was born from the Western tradition, blended from the sparse but sufficient dry goods found in general stores and carried in saddle bags and wagon trains across the great plains. Coarsely ground strong coffee, raw sugar, sea salt and spices lend a bold flavour to steaks, chops and chicken.

I’ve been hearing about folks using coffee rubs for years now and have really been looking forward to when I get my first rub to use on steaks. The wait paid off, and Cattleman’s Grill knocked it out of the park with this one. Surprisingly, the coffee flavour doesn’t come through all that strongly, but it is evident that it’s working on the meat to bring out a more in-depth flavour of the meat. I’ve tried this on some ribeyes and chuckeyes thus far, and both exceeded my expectations. At first I was somewhat hesitant to purchase this particular coffee rub, as sugar is the first listed ingredient. Typically, I prefer savoury beef, not sweet. But the sugar really just comes through in the background and isn’t the prominent flavour in your mouth. The prominent flavour is still beef, which is exactly what I want out of a steak. To me (and this is just me), the sugar in the background almost reminded me of a teriyaki beef at a Japanese hibachi restaurant. Overall though, couldn’t be more pleased with the product. HIGHLY recommended.

Great blend of spices and heat! One of the most unique spices I have tried and love the flavour. Not an overpowering amount of heat but enough of a kick!
